Void-born into a family of mercenaries, Harthaknut has a strong dislike of being on solid ground for long. He began his career at the age of 17, when he inherited his grandfather's powersword and went to work on his uncle's Merc crew. However he quickly gained a reputation for crossing the line between mercenary and outright criminal, going on a rampage during a boarding action where he beheaded half of their employer's armsmen as well as the unfortunate crew of their target ship. His uncle finally kicked him out. Undeterred, he stole his uncle's prize shuttle, The Persephone, and set of to found his own crew of hired guns.
